About Me
Dallas native Alexis Martinez discovered the transformative power of music at age 11 while battling AML leukemia. The piano became a vital source of resilience during his treatment, sparking a passion that led to a career in music. After recovering, Alexis excelled in festivals and competitions across Texas, sharing his journey on Fox 4 News and The Dallas Morning News. Alexis earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University, where he won the 2024–2025 Concerto Competition with a roaring performance of Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor. He also received a grant to study abroad at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, gaining profound insights into the works of Liszt and Bartók. He now teaches and serves as general manager at Dallas Music Academy.
My Teaching Philosophy
My role is to help you become the musician YOU want to be—not the one I think you should be. Whether you’re looking to challenge yourself with essential piano skills like note reading, technique, and music theory, or you’re seeking piano as a source of relaxation and self-care, I tailor lessons to meet your unique goals. Creating meaningful musical experiences is at the heart of my teaching. By incorporating piano improvisation, I help students discover the joy and creativity of making music. My students range from those preparing for music program auditions to those playing contemporary Christian worship songs for Sunday service. Whatever your path, I’m here to guide and inspire you on your musical journey.
