Roni Carrasco, soprano, was born in Mesquite, Texas, where she had her first experience of singing with small groups and ensembles. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Texas A&M Commerce, Roni returned to Mesquite, to become the Head Choir Director at both Kimbrough and Agnew Middle School. While teaching full-time, Roni earned a Master Degree in Arts Leadership and Cultural Management from Colorado State University. After 8.5 years in the classroom, Roni left the teaching profession to become the Assistant Marketing and Development Manager at the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts and Corporate Presentations. Roni markets the Eisemann Center through social media outlets such as Facebook and Instagram and works to develop collaborative programs and educational opportunities that serve the community.
As a classically trained vocalist, Roni has the unique skill of being able to explain vocal tone, facial resonance, and healthy singing in a way that is understandable for all levels of musicians. Because singers must engage their entire body while performing, kinesthetic movements are often tied to various warmups and vocalizes.
Aside from a variety of collegiate choirs, and being a Soprano 2 section leader at Church of the Incarnation, Roni has also had the pleasure of performing under the direction of internationally renowned conductor Jaap van Zweden with the Dallas Symphony Chorus, as well as performing as a member of the backup chorus for classical singing sensation, Sarah Brightman. Roni is very excited to get back to teaching voice lessons, and looks forward to sharing her passion for music with the students of Dallas Music Academy.
