Derek Scott is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and actor who has been developing his artistry for over a decade. Having performed original music, covers, and instrumental music in concerts and competitions across the country, he is highly experienced in performance, technique, and audience-connection. Derek is proficient in voice, piano, guitar, bass, and songwriting and was selected to be a featured piano soloist in Southwestern Assemblies of God University’s Steinway Fundraising Concert in 2009, and in 2013 he competed and won 1st place in the AG National Fine Arts Competition for Piano Solo and Guitar Solo in Orlando, Florida.

From 2013-2015, Derek studied Commercial Music at Belmont University in Nashville, TN with a Voice Principal/Songwriting Emphasis, and in 2016 he transferred to Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, TX to study Vocal Performance. He has studied the methods of globally acclaimed vocal teachers Seth Riggs and Brett Manning while under the instruction of Brett Manning, Tom McKinney, and James R. Wigginton. In 2015, he appeared in Belmont University’s elite vocal ensemble “Phoenix” on the PBS national broadcast of “Christmas at Belmont,” and he has been a concert background vocalist, bassist, and acoustic guitarist for CCM artists Jaci Velasquez and Nic Gonzales (Salvador). He was the lead singer of the Southern Gospel quartet The Harvesters from 2016-2017, touring and recording in the United States and Europe.

Derek has performed as the Scarecrow/Hunk in The Wizard of Oz (Waxahachie Community Theatre), Dennis Sanders in Smoke on the Mountain (Waxahachie Community Theatre), and Tiernan in The Pirate Queen. He has been leading worship teams for a decade and is continually expanding his experience and expertise as a performance-driven artist with a high standard of excellence and creativity.
